Alfa Romeo sales have been strong due to enthusiasts who love the brand rather than the car itself, however the Alfa Romeo 147 is built to a high standard despite issue with the Selespeed sequential gearbox.
The Alfa Romeo 147 is a more sporty to drive than the Fiat Stilo and there are a few engine choices like the GTA which is a 3.2 V6 with 250 break horse power. Derivatives that are popular include the petrol version 1.6 Twin Spark and 2.0 JTS engines and the diesel version 1.9 JTD (a little noisy) and 2.5 V6 (smooth drive). All the diesel engines drive well but don't have that Alfa Romeo authenticity that the petrol engines do.
If you must own an Italian car then this is a stable option and fairly desirable. There are other cars in the 147's class with more room inside and better refined engines but it will be a lot of fun to drive.
There is plenty of standard equipment in the Alfa Romeo 147 and they are priced well but watch out for the high depreciation in value. |
